About Us

EDA Associates are experienced Counsellors and Psychotherapists who provide a range of therapies for Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Low Self Esteem and all Trauma based issues. Our Therapists are qualified in CBT, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and Integrative Counselling. We have BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies) Accredited and UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) registered practitioners. In addition we provide Integrative Counselling and work with Adults, Children and Adolescents and offer Couples and Relationship Counselling.


We accept referrals from individuals as well as organisations including solicitors, insurance referrals and GPs as well as BUPA.

Elizabeth Doggart

Elizabeth Doggart Is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (BABCP Accredited) and an EMDR Consultant (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). She is an experienced Supervisor and Trainer that case manages a team of CBT, EMDR and Integrative Counsellors and Psychotherapists who offer therapy on a wide range of emotional and behavioural problems. These include: anxiety, stress, depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, bereavement, crisis intervention and trauma issues including PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Elizabeth is an Associate Director for Trauma Studies at the Centre for Stress Management in London.
She supervises CBT and EMDR therapists in Primary and Secondary Mental Health Care Services across the West Midlands.

Publications: co-author of "Understanding Trauma - Essential Skills for Working with Emotional Shock" (2006) and currently co-authoring a CBT self help publication for survivors of Road Traffic Accidents.

 

 

Angela Johnson BABCP CBT Psychotherapist & EMDR Practitioner

Angela Johnson

Angela Johnson is a UKCP Registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and BABCP CBT Accredited Psychotherapist, with over twelve years experience in counselling and therapy. Her psychotherapeutic training is in Transactional Analysis. She has received additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is trained in EMDR with both adults and Children. She has an MA in Community Education and is a qualified youth and community worker, having worked for many years in community development within the NHS. She offers brief and long term therapy, across a wide range of issues that include: anxiety, depression, stress, OCD, social anxiety, bereavement, and relationship problems.

 

 

 

 

Sajda Akhtar

Sajda Akhtar

Sajda Akhtar is a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with eighteen years of experience in Health and Social Care. Sajda gained her Bachelors and Masters in Psychology before commencing employment in adult mental health and substance misuse services within the NHS and voluntary sector. She has also worked extensively with diverse communities with complex mental health problems addressing cultural and language barriers to treatment using her bilingual skills in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. Sajda has a special interest in Depression and Anxiety Disorders. In addition to using CBT, she incorporates Counselling and Psychodynamic approaches, Mindfulness, Compassion and Acceptance Therapies to help build empowerment and resilience in order for therapy to have a long-lasting impact.

 

 

Susie Savage

Susie Savage

Susie Savage is a fully accredited member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy. She is also a registered Mental Health with several years of experience. She has over 14 years experience of working in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) both as a nurse and therapist. She is therefore highly qualified to work with this often difficult to engage age group.
Susie has experience of providing therapy and support for children, adolescents and adults for a wide range of emotional and mental health issues: anxiety, depression, OCD, eating difficulties, low self-esteem and body image, trauma and relationship issues. She has also had some additional training in MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) and is able to incorporate these techniques into her work.

 

 

Vanessa Miles

Vanessa Miles

Vanessa Miles is a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and has been in practice as an Integrative Counsellor for over fifteen years. Vanessa is experienced in working with addictive behaviours, having worked in the voluntary sector for Birmingham’s foremost adult and young people's alcohol, drug and gambling services. She is a versatile, creative and determined practitioner who has trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Humanistic and Psychodynamic models. She works creatively and intuitively and will blend techniques to tailor treatment plan that is as individual as her clients, and thus more likely to produce desired outcomes.

Vanessa supports all age groups, but it is her work with young people (aged 10 – 25 years) that inspires her greatest passion and skill. Through her work as a counsellor in youth services, schools, hostels, and with the most behaviorally-challenged young people in youth offending teams, Vanessa has developed a particular affinity with this often-conflicted age group, and a compassionate understanding of the specific pressures and issues they face. She is also trained in Brainspotting (BSP), an innovative and powerful form of focused Mindfulness which is can help to release trauma and treat even the most entrenched anxiety disorders.

Working closely with mental health services has provided Vanessa with a deep understanding of distress in all its manifestations and she is experienced in counselling clients with issues including anxiety, trauma, bereavement, depression, poor self esteem and assertiveness, eating disorders, domestic violence, bullying, sexual abuse, substance misuse and problem gambling, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, attachment and personality disorders, phobias, sexuality and gender issues, deliberate self harm and suicidality.

 

Sharen Knight

Sharen Knight

Sharen Knight gained her Masters degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy 13 years ago at Birmingham University and is an accredited BABCP CBT Psychotherapist. She completed EMDR training in trauma and became an accredited EMDR therapist who  specialises in trauma and PTSD. In 2012 she became aware of another specialised approach  using focused mindfulness in processing traumatic material, known as Brainspotting (BSP. She trained in BSP and is now an Accredited Practitioner.

 

Sharen has worked in mental health for nearly 30 years in both the public and private sectors. She is highly experienced in helping people who present with a variety of mental health issues including  Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, OCD, BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) and Post Natal Depression. She  has experience with working with clients who are on the Autism Spectrum Disorder , including Aspergers.

 

Sharen sees clients ranging from children (10+) Adolescents and Adults. She has the NNEB Diploma and is Child and Adolescent EMDR trained, and is  registered with the UKCP, BABCP and EMDR UK, the professional bodies for Accredited Psychotherapists.

 

 

Amin Chunganyi

Amin Chunganyi

Amin Chunganyi is a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. Amin's main approach is CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and is accredited with the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies) the lead organisation for CBT in the UK. As an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist Amin works with adults suffering from Anxiety disorders, Depression, Panic Disorders and Phobias. In addition Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Health Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Relationship issues and loss. Amin uses a collaborative approach with his clients by carrying out an assessment and treatment plan according to the CBT protocol. Depending on the nature of treatment and individual circumstances, Amin can offer between 6 and 25 sessions by using CBT. CBT is an Evidence Based High intervention recommended by National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) - NHS.

Sheila is BACP Accredited and is an experienced Relationship, Couples and Families therapist. She works integratively, using a variety of modalities including CBT, Systemic, Solution-focussed and Transactional Analysis. Sharon Hinsull

Sharon Hinsull is a well-established therapist & mental health trainer who has been a regular part of the team at (name of centre) since 2002. As an experienced counselling practitioner, Sharon has provided emotional support to people all over the world. Her groundbreaking online practice has been featured in the local and national media and she has served as a guest advisor/contributor to a variety of newspapers and magazines as well as to national television. Sharon was actively involved in supporting survivors of the World Trade Centre terrorist attacks of 2001 and her interest in the area of trauma counselling has continued to involve her working with organisations specialising in crisis intervention both at home and overseas.
In addition to her therapeutic practice at (name of centre) Sharon lectures in Health & Social Care at a variety of local colleges and she delivers training at one of Birmingham’s longest established voluntary counselling agencies.

I provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I have been using CBT for 6 years and am accredited with the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists). I work with a range of mental health difficulties which include: Eating Disorders - Depression - Social Anxiety - Generalised Anxiety Disorder - Phobias - Panic Disorder - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Illness Anxiety.

 

My interest in CBT began at my undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Psychology at Loughborough University. My early career involved roles in the NHS and I have since worked for a charity and now in private practice and locum roles.


In the past three years I have specialised in the area of Eating Disorders, having had an interest in this area for many years. My Masters research focused on the area of eating disorders and was published in the Eating Disorder Journal Appetite. With these difficulties, I often work closely with a Dietician and medical professionals to offer a package of care which encompasses physical and emotional wellbeing.

 

 

Sindy Mann

Sindy Mann is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Sindy is a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse and a trained counsellor with many years of experience. In addition Sindy is an EMDR Practitioner.

 

Sindy works primarily with humanistic/person centered and CBT approaches, offering support and help with a wide range of psychological and mental health issues. Sindy speaks fluent Punjabi and has a good understanding of Hindi and Urdu.

Joyce Edwards

Joyce Edwards Is an Accredited member of The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP Accred). She has a PG cert in Clinical Supervision. Joyce works mainly with adults and adolescents. She has additional training in Solution Focus Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive behaviour Therapy (CBT), including CBT trauma work and uses these models alongside her client focused practice. Since 2006 Joyce has been working within the NHS, Third sector, Employee Assisted Programs (EAP) and Educational Establishments including Counselling and Mental Health Mentoring at schools and universities. She is the clinical lead and Clinical Supervisor to a well-established organisation. She has experience working with a wide range of mental health and emotional difficulties. Joyce has also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing - EMDR to treat PTSD as well as post trauma symptoms. Her therapy is helpful for strengthening and building emotional resilience.
